The season turns
On the imperceptible
Reddening of the hip
And the spider fattened
On the line, apparent
In clear September-time,
And leaf-fall’s tiredness,
Its threadbare
Tattered drift towards gold
And matter shed,
Released in the crispening
Of daylight.
